Our Story

We are not a company or business. We are one person: me, Dennis. It's a labor of love and this web site is the result of my life-long interest in songs about girls with a certain name: a “girl’s name song”. Over the years my interest was fueled by the quality and variety of such songs: novelty songs, love songs, and songs written in honor of a loved one. This passion, some say obsession, with girl’s name songs grew and then one day, at the suggestion from a friend, I started a list of songs and posted it on my family website.

At first, the list was a simple pdf document and consisted of only fifty or so songs. That list grew and I started using a spreadsheet, and when the list was about a thousand songs I moved to a database program, exporting the data to modify and format it into the song list web page you see today.

In 2012, we joined the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Clicking on the song title or artist name on the girlsnamesongs.com website will in many cases take you to the Amazon web page for that song where you can listen to a short sample of the song and learn more about it. The domain of www.girlsnamesongs.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com. Other than the Associates program, we do not have any other legal relationship with Amazon or it's affiliates.

In 2017, we joined the Apple iTunes and Apple Music Affiliate marketing program which is designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Apple Music and Apple iTunes websites. In many cases, clicking on the song title or artist's name will take you to the Apple Music or iTunes web page for that song where you can listen to a short sample of the song and learn more about it. Other than the Affiliate program, we do not have any other legal relationship with Apple or it's affiliates.

The reason I like to say “We” and “Our” web site is that I have taken advantage of numerous suggestions and ideas from family, friends, and site visitors through emails and comments posted on the home page. So, it really is the result of input from numerous interested people. Please keep sending me your suggestions, corrections, and song ideas so that “we” can continue to offer the very best and most complete list of songs with a girl’s name in the title or lyrics; songs about a girl with a certain name: a girl’s name song. Thank you!

Why a separate UK site?
What is the difference?

The UK is the second largest source of visitors to girlsnamesongs.com, about a quarter to a third of the number of USA visitors are from the UK. Since I link song names to Amazon, and they do business geographically and have separate sites for the UK and the USA, I decided to make a UK-specific site to give UK visitors the same benefits that USA visitors enjoy. So, that’s the main difference, the same list of songs just with different links so that UK visitors have links to Amazon.co.uk. The two other important differences between the sites are 1.) the most popular baby girl names, and 2.) the top 40 love songs with a girl’s name in the title. Those two lists are, of course, distinctly different for the two regions.

Charity:  It’s been said that it takes a village to raise a child. I also think the village would be well served to ensure the health and well-being of the child’s mother and to assure a healthy birth so that the child has a better chance of reaching responsible adulthood. This we do, not just for the benefit of the child, but for the enrichment of the entire village. Happy, healthy, productive people benefit all of society, and it starts with a healthy childbirth and happy mother. djd
